Saving a home from foreclosure due to illness?
Filed Under Home Foreclosure | Comments Off
I have a question about saving a home from foreclosure.
My divorced mother recently had a heart attack and has been hospitalized since January. She has a modest home in Houston. She is receiving 60% disability from her insurance through her employer. Due to complications, she will be incapacitated for another 6-8 months. Since I am not in a position to meet her mortgage in addition to mine, what other options are available for saving her house until she can go back to work? Her 60% income is enough to meet her other financial obligations but not the mortgage. I have a Power of Attorney and contacted the lender and they pretty much were not helpful. Does anyone have any ideas other than selling the home? She is 62 and lives alone.
Thanks for your help.
Comments: I’m not paying credit cards and there is no car payment. Only utilities, the mortgage and insurance (home, auto and health). The house is not in danger at the moment of being foreclosed. I’m trying to keep it from ever getting to that point. The home lender was not helpful and would not work with me. Thanks.

Due to unfortunate circumstances my husband and I had to give up our family home. After trying to sell it, we were unable to in the time we needed to and had to let the home go into foreclosure.
What I would like to know is when a home goes to auction or a Sheriff’s Sale, what is the starting price? Is there guidelines as to where they can start the bidding as far as numbers go?

Our landlord has not told us the home we rent is in foreclosure. I found out through notices addressed to him in the mail and through a website listing our home in foreclosure. As it is we pay rent a month in advance and have decided to pay on time instead so that we do not lose a whole months rent if asked to leave. Sorry to say we do not trust our renter because he has not been honest with us. When this home sells, how long will we have to find a new place? Also, shouldn’t the bank be getting our rent money…especially if rent is more than his mortgage? I am really just concerned about what this means for us and options available? Anyone ever been in this situation?

I it possible to purchase a califonia foreclosure home for less than 50,000?
Filed Under Home Foreclosure | 1 Comment
My sister an I have been thinking about purchasing a foreclosure home, unfortunately we were only approved for a 45,000 mortgage loan( and we have 2,000 saved up). We have been searching online and we saw many homes with a remaining loan balance under 10,000. Under our understanding, a hopeful foreclosure buyer pays what the previous owner owed and other taxes and fees. Would this add up to more than 100,000? Or how does this process work?
